Our Comment Policy

Every good community has values it supports and one of ours is supporting the spirit of open communication. We want our comment section to be a place where you can kick back and join the conversation comfortably.

You’ll find our comment section is full of great people and great discussion. It’s a lively, welcoming place, and it’s here to let you have a voice and share your thoughts with other people just like you.

So welcome. Come on in.

We’re Casual, But We Do Have Some Guidelines

Good communities always have some guidelines of behavior to make sure everyone enjoys themselves.

At Men with Pens, we allow polite debate, courteous critiques, and calm disagreement. We welcome feedback, even if it doesn’t portray us in a glowing light.

But we don’t allow flaming, trolling or trashing. Some people have fun throwing gasoline and lighting it on fire. That’s great for toasted marshmallows on a summer’s night, but it’s not much fun in blog comment sections.

We delete comments that break the boundaries of courteous behavior or lack respect, including comments that are rude, include name-calling, or lack every-day manners. We also reserve the right to block or ban commentators without warning should we feel that’s necessary.

We’re usually fair, though. We’ll try our best to offer warning if anyone’s toeing the line between discussion and disaster. Not everyone realizes his or her passion might be getting a little too heated.

A Word on Keywords

There’s a spammy kind of practice happening where people don’t leave names in the Name field of their comments. They stick a keyword, like “Firewall Security” or “Birthday Cards”, thinking that’ll do their business some good.

Look, frankly, that’s pretty silly. If we want to have a conversation with you, what are we supposed to call you? “Dear Bahama Vacations,” just doesn’t seem right. Plus, a keyword in the name field lacks respect for all the hard work and energy we put into this blog.

So go ahead. Leave a rockin’ comment – and tell us your name.
