Accounting 101 for Freelancing Online

Over at FreelanceWritingGigs.com (which seems to be the site for Freelance Writing Jobs), a reader asked about PayPal, taxes and working for overseas businesses.

The flurry of comments, questions, conflicting information and uncertain answers that ensued from the question showed me there is a big demand for concrete info on how to manage your online earnings.

To meet that demand (and hopefully clarify plenty of issues), I’m going to prepare a series of posts on money matters and freelancing in the virtual world starting on the 8th of November.

We have plenty of advice to share on the subject. We’ve been in business long enough to become intimately familiar with accounting software, tracking money, expenses, payments and reporting earnings to the government.

We also work closely with a fantastic accountant who has shared plenty of knowledge with us. I’m going to pass some of that knowledge on to you.

If you have questions you’d like answers to, please feel free to post them here. I’ll do my best to include accurate, informative and helpful answers in my upcoming posts.

Don’t be shy; there is no such thing as silly questions. And I sure don’t provide silly answers ;)
