I made it. I’m reporting live from the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Of course, the website and registration papers neglected to say the Expo was at the South Hall, which is nowhere near the North Hall, so I almost ended up at the Fire And Rescue Expo. That might have been cool, too.
But no, I had to stay focused, find the Blogging Expo, get my badge and go to my seminars.
I asked the nearest person where to find the Blog Expo , and the woman kindly instructed me that the hall I was looking for was aaaalll the way down at the other end of the lot.
Figures. I had two choices, and of course I chose the wrong one.
Well, at least the weather was nice, it wasn’t August and 118 degrees out – or so I kept telling myself as I trudged the quarter mile to the South Hall.
Did I mention I had to park out in the middle of nowhereland, too? Oh yes, so tack on another long trek from the Gold Lot to the Fire and Rescue Expo to the Blog Expo at the South Hall. Joy.
Actually, I’m having fun. At the registration desk. two elderly ladies vied for my attention as they guided me through the registration process. (Hey, Jamie, I have a badge with our company name on it! I feel so official.)
So, what do bloggers do at a blogging expo? They blog. The first thing I noticed is that everyone, myself included, is live-wired and online. I don’t know what made me think a media convention like this wouldn’t be offering free net access…d’oh. Everywhere you look, people are typing away, sharing information as quickly as they receive it.
I still have to explore the vendors. There are a few but not as many as I expected. Still, I’m schmoozing, getting my ID card scanned for promotional info, and picking up freebies and other stuff.
Looks like there’s something going on at the center stage regarding WordPress. The acoustics in here are pretty bad, so I’ll have to get going and move closer to see what they’re saying.
Check for another update later tonight!
