Catchy Article Titles Make a Difference

A selling article starts with one important part: The title.

The title of your article is probably one of the most important factors in whether you attract readers’ interest or they move on. You can be writing about the most boring thing in the world, but a catchy title makes all the difference between a hit and a miss.

The trick is to have a title that not only snags interest but gives the reader an idea of what the article is about. Being clear is nice, so tell readers a bit about what they will discover if they keep reading.

Don’t be boring. Being clear doesn’t mean being bland. Put some punch into your article title. The title of my blog is a good example. I could have titled this blog, “Article Titles,” but that would have been boring.

Keep titles short. Long titles aren’t effective. Too short titles aren’t best either, so find the happy medium.

Try titles that make a statement titles. These are the ones that use colons. For example, “Article Titles: Catchy Makes a Difference.” You have something interesting as a title and you have the subject of your writing clearly stated. It’s the best of both worlds.

  2. There are two rules of thumb that I follow when creating and they are

    1. Try to phrase it as a question

    2. Make it problem oriented

Of course, rules are made to be broken but as I always say, you must know the rules first before breaking it.
