Men with Pens Expands with Freelance Writing Gigs

There comes a time when all good things must end. There are also times for new beginnings. I’d like to announce an event that encompasses both. I would’ve liked to announce it on Friday, but I’ve had a request to move ahead, and I feel it’s the right thing to do.

Freelance Writing Gigs has become part of the Men with Pens fold. It’s an excellent blog with a large following and we’re very proud to be the new owners. Deb Ng has been facing some tough financial times, and her family needed her more than her community.

That’s okay – those who know me know that my philosophy is family first, and we all have a life. (My second philosophy is that anything new is worth trying, but that usually gets me into trouble.)

Deb Ng will still be posting there, but under our direction while I learn the ropes (read: until I figure out how to write so that her community doesn’t eat me alive.). Jodee will also continue her work providing leads for people.

While many people may be sad to see Freelance Writing Gigs transform under new ownership, please don’t be. It’s a good thing. Deb gets to relax and relieve herself of a burden, our business gets to expand and the community gets to continue to enjoy valuable information on freelance writing.

We will be overhauling the look and renegotiating with advertisers etc, but we won’t be changing the name in honor of Deb.

And I promise not to set the FWG blog on fire. Well, for one week, at least.

Please join us in this fantastic moment, and hop on over to FWG to introduce yourself to the community. Also, welcome to any FWG fans who’ve come to visit here.

To change. May it ever better our lives.

I know FWJ is in good hands. As long as you don’t bring up PLR you’ll be fine.

  2. James says:

Thanks Deb. I promise to make you proud of me.

(Why do I feel like a little kid around you? Yes, Mom, I’ll be good.)

James – as per my IM, congrats on this, and Deb – good on you, too. If you need help fighting fires, I still have my fireman suit. :)

So, what the MWP are taking over the world now??? :-)
Congratulations! I’m sure there will be many stimulating discussions. And kudos to Deb for building the community to begin with!

Family comes first above all, Deb. I salute you but also feel the pain having to give something up so dear to you. Best of luck in your journey. I know your baby (FWJ) will be in good hands. And in case James does set the blog on fire, Brett has that fire suit and Harry and I will rush in to save all the children. ;)

*snatches whip from Amy* How’d you get that?

  16. Jenny Burr says:

Good joke. I must admit that my first thought was it could be true however there were some “facts” that were a bit “questionable.” If I hadn’t looked into MWP also “taking over” Brian Clark’s copyblogger I wouldn’t have started thinking that perhaps it was a joke.

Blogging world be warned. The Men With Pens are coming to take over the world of blogging and they are armed with…..pens??

  17. James says:

@ Jenny – The FWG was a hoax and a fun one that Deb surprised me with. Everyone else was selling their blogs today – I could’ve had blogosphere domination!

The Copyblogger is true, though. I will be taking over at Brian’s request, so I hope for everyone’s support. And no one is allowed to laugh when I screw up.

The blog with the pen much mightier than the sword…

  18. Jenny Burr says:

@James I’m certain that you will do very well over at Copyblogger.

  19. Congratulations to you guys. I know the blog will be in great hands! Hopefully for DEB she can get more quality time with her folks and I wish her all the best. The fact that she is still around counts anyway.
