I’ve been finishing the final touches on our upcoming e-book for beginning freelance writers. It’s a fantastic ebook, and I’m proud of it. Now if Jamie can pull off getting it to you within a couple of days, we’ll be all set!
As I laid out the ebook, a guide for beginning writers on the Internet, I read every word. I started thinking and I realized the need for quality content has begun a Renaissance for writers.
In an age where everything has been driven by television, movies, computer graphics and videos for a few decades now, the world is finally getting back to the written word.
Think about it, people; we’re pioneers here! How exciting is that? Want to be immortal? Write. Want your 15 minutes of fame and then some? Write.
Not only write, but write well. Webmasters are getting their act together and more people every day realize the value of well-written content.
There is still a ways to go. Many people still don’t know what works, content-wise, or the true resource a writer can be. It’s up to the writers to show them, to teach them that content is an integral part of websites and success. After working in both writing and graphic design, I now know writing is a critical element.
While Jamie and I worked on another project (remember the business we couldn’t find a name for?), he couldn’t understand why I was so fixated on finding the right font for the logo.
“But Harry, they’re just letters.” Mais non, mon ami. Is content just letters? Content contributes to the whole, just as the font contributes to the design. There’s your analogy, bro.
As writers, we have an excellent opportunity to mold the shape of content. Right now, people know they need content, they know what it is, but many have yet to understand how to use it.
Well, we know how. And the more we, the writing community, share this knowledge amongst ourselves, the more respected our careers as content writers becomes.
Now get back to that keyboard and start writing.
