Respect Freelance Writing Industry Rates

If you’re going to hire a professional, be expected to pay professional rates. After all, you wouldn’t contract a plumber or stonemason and pay them $1 an hour, would you? Of course not. These people are professionals with skills and experience. You want them to do the job right. You expect to pay them the industry standard rates.

Why do you expect freelance writers to accept lesser treatment? It takes practice, skills, and often investments in courses to learn to write effectively. Grammar, punctuation, and proper structure don’t come out of a hat. Not everyone can write, and of those that write, not everyone can write well.

Freelance writers and those who offer writing services deserve the proper pay rate that the writing industry expects. Respect the skills of writers and their experience. Don’t insult them by expecting these freelance writers to work at sweatshop rates or below the minimum wage.

If you want professional work, hire professionals and treat them with the respect they deserve.
