Using Social Skills to Increase Business Revenue, Part 3 of 5

workgroup.jpgThis is day three in our mini-series on using social skills to increase business revenues. We’ve covered why social skills are important to business and how social skills affect your business. Now we’ll look at ways to use social skills to increase your moneymaking potential:

Be friendly and approachable

Let clients feel you’re glad to deal with them – even when you aren’t. Confidence is another sure winner. To sell to anyone, you have to believe in yourself and what you’re selling. Act like a professional and sound like one, too. This helps establish leadership and credibility that you know your business well.

Use body language

Smile often; it’s catchy. Relax your body and move fluidly. When you sit, lean forward with your elbows resting slightly on the table. That makes you appear open-minded and ready to listen. When standing, don’t slouch and lift your chin. Never cross your arms. That looks defensive and closed. Instead, put your hands in your pockets for a more casual appearance.

Be casual

Casual is a good thing. People are tired of big businesses that treat them like a number and lack providing personal attention. Consumers want to know they’re dealing with real people just like them. That’s why businesses of all sizes are starting to relax their image; consumers want someone trustworthy, credible, and human to deal with.

It’s the perfect opportunity for entrepreneurs to step in and fill the shoes.
